Some of the major problems related to Indian defense are described as follows:


National Cadet Corps (NCC):- It was established in 1948 AD. Its main purpose or to make the youth and girls aware about the defense of India and to keep them ready for the last line of defense. Its motto is 'Unity and Discipline'.

Territorial Army: It is formed as a second line of defence. In this, young citizens in the age group of 18 to 35 years are recruited. They are given military training in part time and this army is called in emergency.


Griha Swavahini: It was established in 1962. Its main function is to assist the police in internal security, to assist during air raids, to provide all kinds of assistance during fire and illness.





Border Security Force: It was established in 1965. Its main function is to make the enemy's border secure from infiltration and border violation. (Headquarters Delhi)


Assam Rifles: The Indo-Myanmar border and Indo-China border in the northeast of Assam are guarded by the Assam Rifles. This oldest paramilitary force of the country was established in 1835 in the name of Cachar Chevi. It is a central armed force with 46 battalions. Its headquarter is in Shillong. This force is affectionately referred to as the 'Sentinel of the Northeast and the friend of the hill people'.


National Security Guards (NSG):- National Security Guards were established in 1984 to face the challenge of terrorism in the country. The NSG is based on the pattern of the UK's SAS and Germany's GSG-9 commanding forces. It has two groups - the Special Action Group (SAG) consisting of military personnel and the Special Group (SRG) consisting of personnel from the state police forces. Their training was Central Industrial Security Force (CISF):- it was established in 1969 AD. This force has the responsibility of providing security to the artisans and property there working in the industrial complexes of the central government. Central Reserve Police Station (CRPF):- It was established in 1939. Its headquarter is Delhi. It was formerly called the Crown Representative Police. From December 28, 1949, it came to be called RPF. CRPF Academy is located in Mount Abu, Rajasthan. Yes, the officers of this force are given training. In addition, there are three CRPF training colleges at Neemuch (MP), Coimbatore (Tamil Nadu) and Nanded (Maharashtra) where courses for subordinate officers are conducted.

Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB):- Before 15 December 2003, its name was Special Service Bureau or it was formed in 1963. The main objective of its formation was to create confidence and develop the feeling of patriotism among the people of the border areas after the Indo-China war of 1962. SSB is under the administrative control of the Ministry of Home Affairs since January 15, 2001.SSB working on the present Indo-Nepal and Indo-Bhutan borders, earlier India-China. Apart from the border areas, it has served on the borders of Rajasthan, Gujarat, Mizoram, Nagaland, Manipur, Meghalaya and Sikkim.


Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP):- Indo-Tibetan Border Police was formed on October, 1962 after the Chinese invasion. It was formed as an integrated unit of Intelligence/Signal/Pioneer/Engineering/Medical and Guerrilla and control was initially handed over to the Intelligence Bureau. In the year 1975, its scope of work was reinterpreted, under which it was entrusted with the responsibility of preventing cross-border infiltration and crime.The Indo-Tibetan Border Police is headquartered in New Delhi and is headed by the Director General. The motto of the ITBP is "Shaurya, Persistence-Karma-Nishtha". The force is presently the nodal agency for disaster management in the Central and Western Himalayan region, as well as providing security, communication and health facilities to pilgrims during the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra. The Indo-Tibetan Border Police has a total of 29 battalions including four Special Battalions.
